Childhood virus in Vietnam, 70 killed

According to source a surging explosion of hand, foot and mouth disease in Vietnam has killed more than 70 people.


Head of the Ministry of Health's Department of Preventive Medicine's Nguyen Van Binh said that, most of the cases have been found in the country's south region.


Enterovirus 71, or EV-71, is the dominant strain which is moving in Vietnam. It can result in a more serious form of the common childhood disease as paralysis, brain swelling or in the end death also.


This year's explosion is a sharp uptick from recent years. Since 2008 near about 10,000 to 15,000 cases were founded in Vietnam per year and more than twenty to thirty children dying every year.
