35 Killed, 10 missing in Dhaka

DHAKA, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- At least 35 people were killed and about 10 people went missing as a boat capsized in Bangladesh's Sunamganj district, 296 km northeast of capital Dhaka, on Saturday.

Local private news agency BDnews24.com reported the boat clashed with a sand-laden trawler around 9:30 p.m. local time in the Surma river in the district.

Sonarnagh Union Chairman of the district Azhar Hossain Bablu was quoted as saying 35 bodies have been recovered so far.

The boat was carrying around 50 passengers.

About 10 people went missing since the boat capsized, the news agency said.
